Membership of the Surtees Society is open to all, both individuals and institutions. Becoming a member greatly assists the Society in planning and delivering its publishing objectives. Since its foundation in 1834 the Surtees Society has upheld the highest editorial standards and published (as of 2025) 230 volumes. Members receive a cloth bound copy of each volume when published. The annual subscription for individual members is £35 and for institutions £50. Members of the Society are entitled to purchase copies of back-volumes at reduced rates where these are still in print.
